Learn more about the ACLU Foundation of Rhode Island:
Through litigation and public education, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Rhode Island works so that people can live openly without discrimination and enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association. The cases we take on and our varied public education efforts are designed to help preserve and protect these fundamental freedoms keeping all our neighbors safe against government infringement.
Since 1959, the ACLU Foundation of Rhode Island has relied on community support to work diligently to uphold our fundamental freedoms in the Ocean State. ACLU of Rhode Island receives no government funding and never charges our clients for legal representation. Our existence depends entirely on private donations, foundation grants, donor-advised funds, court-awarded legal fees from successful cases, and bequests.
The ACLU is comprised of two organizations, the American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU Foundation. Contributions to the ACLU Foundation are tax deductible for charitable purposes, while ACLU membership dues are not. [?]
